SOLD MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILIAR SPIRIT 

Prologue:

I've always heard stories about parents selling their daughters for wealth, but I never thought it would happen to me. My name is Amanda, and this is my life story.

I remember that day vividly. I was in the kitchen preparing soup for my family when my mom called me out excitedly. I came out to see a young man with a dreadlock hairstyle. When he saw me, he nodded his head and said, "She'll do." I looked at them in confusion, wondering what was going on.

My mom told me to pack my things and get ready to leave. I was still confused, and my sister Ugochi, who had always been hostile towards me, had already packed my bags. When I asked my mom what was happening, she pushed me towards the man with the dreadlocks.

As he handed her a box filled with cash, I asked her if she had sold our farm land. She replied harshly, telling me that I was no longer her daughter and that I was the child of a maid who had gotten pregnant for my father. The man with dreadlocks interrupted, saying he loved me and would take care of me.

I was traumatized and felt like my world had been turned upside down. The man held my hand softly and told me everything would be okay. We started walking, and I asked him why he didn't have a car if he was wealthy. He replied that "they" were waiting for us.

As we walked, I noticed that the man was walking strangely, like someone who was learning to walk. He held my hand tightly, and I tried to pull away, but he wouldn't let go. I asked him who he was and what his name was, but he just repeated that "they" were waiting for us.

We walked on an unfamiliar road, and I asked him where his village or house was. He didn't respond but instead said, "Shh, did you hear that?" Suddenly, a python crawled towards us, and I screamed. When it passed by, I turned to look at the man, and his dreadlocks had transformed into little snakes. His face had also changed, resembling a snake's face.

I screamed, and the man dragged me into the thick forest. As we moved deeper into the forest, his clothes transformed into scales. I asked him if he would kill me, and he replied that he loved me and wouldn't harm me, but I had to promise not to try to escape.

This is just the beginning of my story, and I'm still trying to understand what happened. My parents sold me to a stranger, an evil spirit who lives in the forest and is looking for a human bride just because of money I knew the never loved me but this is too unfair.
